How to Cloth Diaper a Newborn with the Umbilical Cord Still Attached

How to Fit a Cloth Diaper Around the Umbilical Cord Stump

-Use the small insert only. Skip the large insert for now — the small one is all a newborn needs.

-Snap only the back of the insert. Leave the front unsnapped so it doesn't rub against the stump.

-Set the diaper to the middle rise. Use the 3 rows of front snaps to size it down for a newborn frame.

-Fold the front flap down. Fold it just above the bottom row of snaps, creating a low-rise "notch" that clears the cord area completely.

-Snap the side snaps in. Holding the sides of the diaper, snap them into the first and last bottom-row snaps.

-Finish the front closure. Take the right side (female snaps) and snap into the middle, skipping the inner snap above it. Then snap the left side into the female snap on the right side of the cover.

That's it, a fully adjustable, cord-safe fit without buying a single extra product.
