Lil Helper’s Needs Program helps individuals who self-identify as needing our reusable menstrual pads but cannot afford them at full price. We believe everyone should have access to menstrual health products, especially during tough times.

To ensure fairness, we ask participants to follow the honor system and claim the support only if genuinely needed. As a small business, we rely on honesty and integrity to make this program work, fostering inclusivity and community kindness.

Note: The number of items depends on the products selected in the bundle builder.

Measurement

REUSABLE PADS:

Liner (8 inches): Holds 10-20 ml (2-4 tampons); ideal for spotting or light protection.
Regular (10 inches): Holds 20-30 ml (4-6 tampons); perfect for moderate days.
Heavy (13 inches): Holds 30-40 ml (6-8 tampons); for heavier days or overnight.
Max (16 inches): Holds 80-100 ml (up to 20 tampons); for very heavy flow or postpartum needs.

Wash & Care

Before washing, make sure any solid matter is removed from your product. For items with heavy soiling that may stain or develop odors, rinse under cold running water until the water runs clear before storing for wash day.
For a deep clean, start with a pre-wash on a short cycle using warm water (up to 140°F / 60°C) and the recommended amount of detergent, such as Tide Original to Line 1. Follow with a heavy-duty, longest-cycle wash in warm or cold water, again using the appropriate detergent amount. To ensure proper agitation, add other items to create a full load.
For everyday or lighter messes or items already pre-rinsed, a regular cycle in cold or warm water (up to 140°F / 60°C) with the normal amount of detergent is sufficient.
Whenever possible, hang to dry. If you’re in a rush, you can tumble dry on low.

Needs Program Overview

Our Needs Program was created to make our products more accessible to folks with a limited budget.

Based on an honor system of need and self-identification, folks can purchase selected items at a considerable discount.

The Needs program exists to provide folks with high quality solutions that they truly need from Lil Helper but cannot otherwise afford.

Kind Capitalism is one of Lil Helper’s core principles, where we operate as a for-profit business but where profit is not our only motive to show up for work. At our core, we want to provide solutions to people based on their needs.

We hope to make it easier for folks to switch to reusable products when we can by helping with the upfront costs in this way.

Needs program acts as a subsidy program and will replace our Baby Do Better Program so that we can offer all our needs based products at a subsidized rate for folks who need them.

How do we stock the Needs Program?

The Needs Program is stocked with qualifying items that we can reasonably offer either by ordering in bulk or by stocking prints that we have a surplus of. We are a for-profit business but profit is not our sole motivation.

When folks support our company by buying full priced items, it allows us to offer some products at a discounted rate for those who truly need the help.

Can I donate or contribute towards the Need's?

We know the Lil Helper family is incredibly generous and supportive. At this time, we have not found a way to allow other folks to support our work directly in the Need’s Program. We are going to continue investigating this option!

What items qualify?

Currently, we are in the beginning trial stage of our Needs Program, and only offering our HyPs menstrual pads. We hope to be able to expand this program in the future.

Love this company

I've been using menstrual pads from this company for going on 3 years now and they are by far my favorite product I've used! I like them so much that when they came out with the teen size pads I bought this bundle just to set aside for my niece so when hers comes (within the next year or so) I have them ready and waiting so she'll never have to go through the terrible experiences I've had with disposable pads/tampons (especially leaking. Scary and gross but not with these). Finding this company was a total period game changer not only for my body but for my wallet!! One pad is the price of a box of disposable and could last like ten years! So for less then 8 months worth of disposable pad price I have 10 years of product that keeps me clean and dry!

The imbalance between the front and back make them slide around the crotch a fair amount. 2 snaps on the crotch is nice. They aren’t nearly water proof enough in my opinion. I find liquid bleeds around to the wings too easily and then to your pants. Sorry! I want to love these. The lifesaver mat is a better product I feel BUT also slides around my bed a lot.

Still trying out

The design slides back often. My flow has gone onto my underwear because of this. Maybe try reworking the design silhouette or snap adjustments. When it stays in place, it does great at holding flow. Easy to hand wash and air dry.

A little smile for the cringe moments

I am a bit late on the review but I wanted to make sure I had a fully formed opinion on the Lil Helper experience.

And let me tell you, the opinion is full!

Having these in my arsenal of self care products makes me feel a lot less self conscious if I happen to sneeze a little too hard. (If you know, you know.) The prints are precious; do I want space cats this morning? Donut kittens? Am I feeling simple and wavy? I've had blissfully dry days thanks to them.

The pros: the pads aren't symmetrical long-ways; I can clip them to my undies and have the long end cover where it needs to without being uncomfortable. Both sides are made of buttery soft material. Sometimes I like to sift through the stash a little longer than necessary because of it. Please don't judge.

The cons: one set of buttons. I have had them fold over on me when in use, so there's a little bit of a learning curve on smoothing them out for maximum comfort. I do acknowledge there's only so much that can be done to remedy that though. They can also be little acrobats and flip on me if I'm not careful. I'd call that user error.

The note in the envelope was hilarious. I immediately showed my husband and we both laughed at how wonderful it was. I think I still have one of the cardboard sleeves. If I don't, I gotta fix that.

TL;DR - these have actually brought some joy to my life. I've been able to rely on my little stash of six every single day since they landed in my mailbox. I can't wait to afford more. I've got my eyes on those mermaid prints.
